A 50-year tradition in Horsetown, USA resumed this weekend after a two-year hiatus during the pandemic.

But now Norco Horseweek is back at the George Ingalls Equestrian Event Center.

The event kicked off Friday, April 15, with an extreme ranch rodeo. On Saturday, April 16, show-winning horses and their owners took part in an opening parade along Sixth Street. Activities include horse shows, contests, food and activities. It runs through Sunday, April 24, in areas around Ingalls Park.

Riders and spectators can enter their horse in an obstacle course challenge, experience bull riding, enter a chili cook-off, watch a rodeo queen pageant and enjoy lawnmower racing.

Horseweek returned just after the California Department of Food and Agriculture lifted its statewide recommendation that postponed equine activities and required horses to quarantine, after a contagious herpes virus was spreading among horses. Norco temporarily closed arenas and paused events, including open riding, until March 31.

Horse owners attending Horseweek had to bring a waiver stating their animal is healthy and has not been exposed.
